Counseling
DISCOVER Program
What is DISCOVER?
Inventories: DISCOVER uses inventories to collect information about your interests, abilities, and values. Your results are then integrated with the World-of-Work Map to demonstrate how your own interests, abilities, and values are related to each other and to specific career areas.
Occupations: DISCOVER allows you to search for detailed descriptions of individual occupations. You can do a focused search, looking at those careers most closely related to the results of your inventories, or you can broadly review all occupations in any area.
Majors: To find academic majors that prepare you for occupations of interest, DISCOVER offers several ways to search and obtain detailed descriptions of majors.
Schools: DISCOVER lets you search for colleges and universities by state, major, keyword, degree type, and characteristics. It also provides information on scholarships and financial aid.
Job Search: DISCOVER provides sample resumes, cover letters, tips for interviewing, job openings, internships, and apprenticeships.
Portfolio: DISCOVER keeps track of your results and provides you with a summary of each section. You may choose to print the summaries for your own records and/or discuss the results with a counselor. Counselors will be available at scheduled times to go over your results and answer your DISCOVER-related questions.
